Meditative acupuncture
Meditative acupuncture, also known as esoteric acupuncture, has become the specialty of one of our team members who developed this particular style. Meanwhile, all our bodyworkers have grasped the essence of it and can apply this acupuncture in sessions.
There are many varieties of this acupuncture, from chakra acupuncture up to esoteric acupuncture according to the sacred geometric principles. We use acupuncture to enhance our awareness in the session, to totally focus on the effects from some needles in important acupuncture points in our body.
The role of acupuncture in the management of overweight at the Institute Leela
Acupuncture is a traditional Chinese medicine technique that involves the insertion of thin needles into specific points on the body to stimulate healing and improve health. Acupuncture has been used to treat various conditions, including obesity and overweight.
We offer acupuncture in our institute as a part of various programs.
Several studies have investigated the potential of acupuncture for weight loss and management. Here are some references that provide an overview of the research on acupuncture for obesity:
Huang W, et al. Acupuncture for obesity: A systematic review and meta-analysis. International Journal of Obesity (2013). doi: 10.1038/ijo.2012.214
This meta-analysis of 29 randomized controlled trials involving a total of 3016 participants concluded that acupuncture is effective for weight loss and can improve body mass index (BMI) and waist circumference.
Cho SH, et al. Effectiveness of acupuncture for the treatment of obesity: A systematic review and meta-analysis. Journal of Acupuncture and Meridian Studies (2019). doi: 10.1016/j.jams.2018.12.002
This systematic review and meta-analysis of 11 randomized controlled trials involving a total of 1136 participants found that acupuncture was more effective than sham acupuncture or no treatment for reducing body weight, BMI, and waist circumference.
Zhang Y, et al. Acupuncture for obesity: A systematic review and meta-analysis. Evidence-Based Complementary and Alternative Medicine (2018). doi: 10.1155/2018/2562947
This meta-analysis of 14 randomized controlled trials involving a total of 1267 participants found that acupuncture can significantly reduce body weight, BMI, and waist circumference in obese patients, compared to control groups.
Overall, while the evidence is not conclusive, these studies suggest that acupuncture may be an effective adjunct therapy for weight loss and management in obese individuals.
However, more research is needed to fully understand the mechanisms and potential benefits of acupuncture for obesity.
It's important to note that acupuncture should not be used as a standalone treatment for obesity, but rather as a complementary therapy alongside lifestyle changes, dietary modifications, and regular exercise.
